New Pain Relief Drug Offers Hope for Millions Suffering from Inflammatory Conditions
The scientists wanted to see if using a drug called dexmedetomidine before inducing stomach pain in rats could help reduce the pain. They divided 40 rats into different groups and gave them either the pain-causing substance or a control. Rats that received the pain-causing substance alongside dexmedetomidine showed less pain and lower inflammation levels compared to those without it. The higher the dose of dexmedetomidine, the more effective it was in lessening pain and inflammation in the rats' stomachs. The researchers concluded that giving dexmedetomidine before inducing stomach pain in rats could help reduce the pain caused by inflammation.
