Polluted Reservoir Costs Beijing Millions, Livestock Farming Blamed
The study looked at how pollution from farming and livestock in Taishitun Town, Beijing, affects the environment and economy. Livestock farming was found to be the biggest source of pollution, leading to significant economic losses. The pollution mainly comes from nitrogen and phosphorus, causing soil erosion and water contamination. Overall, the economic loss from non-point source pollution in the area was estimated to be around 4.08 million RMB, with livestock breeding being the main contributor. This shows the importance of managing agricultural practices to protect the environment and reduce economic losses.
