Liver damage reduced by combining propofol and resveratrol, offering hope for better surgery outcomes.
The scientists wanted to see how mixing propofol and resveratrol could help against liver damage from lack of blood flow and then its return (I/R) in rats. They split 108 rats into six groups and gave different treatments. They found that propofol combined with resveratrol lessened liver damage by reducing harmful substances and increasing helpful ones compared to the other groups. This combo treatment was better than propofol or resveratrol alone at protecting the liver during I/R. So, using propofol and resveratrol together could help prevent liver injury from blood flow problems in rats.
