Homeowners' water source shapes irrigation conservation behavior
The study looked at how different water sources (well water, recycled water, city water) affect people's habits when watering their lawns in Florida. They surveyed over 3,000 residents and found that the source of water influenced whether people took steps to conserve water. Those with city water were more aware of water conservation but didn't always act on it. People with well water were less likely to use smart irrigation controls, while those with recycled water tended to use rain sensors. Understanding where water comes from can help in encouraging better outdoor water usage practices.
