Knowledge Management Systems Revolutionize Tacit Knowledge Sharing in Organizations
Knowledge management systems use different IT tools to help organizations manage both explicit (written down) and tacit (personal) knowledge. While IT is commonly used to support explicit knowledge, its role in supporting tacit knowledge is not as well understood. IT tools like file management systems, data mining technology, and collaboration tools can help with knowledge sharing and discovery. However, these tools are mainly used for explicit knowledge. The paper explores how IT can better support tacit knowledge, helping knowledge workers and managers choose the right tools to develop effective knowledge management solutions.
