Sheep Embryo Breakthrough Boosts Survival Rates, Revolutionizing Livestock Farming
Researchers tested two substances, dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO) and ethylene glycol (EG), to see which one helps sheep embryos survive freezing better. They mixed DMSO and EG in different ways before freezing the embryos. Results showed that using a mix of DMSO and EG in equal amounts helped more embryos grow properly after being frozen. The embryos that were frozen using the balanced mix of DMSO and EG had higher success rates compared to those frozen with just DMSO or just EG. The mix of DMSO and EG together seems to be a good choice for keeping sheep embryos healthy during the freezing process.
