Milk-based extender outperforms egg yolk in preserving canine semen quality.
The study compared two types of extenders for storing canine semen at different temperatures. The milk extender was found to be better than the egg yolk extender in preserving sperm quality. The milk extender resulted in higher sperm motility, vigour, and membrane integrity. The storage temperature did not affect semen quality, suggesting that canine semen can be refrigerated at 15ºC without compromising its quality for up to 36 hours.
