Improved seismic petrophysics workflow enhances oil reservoir characterization in Iran.
The article discusses a method to improve the accuracy of well log data in a carbonate oil reservoir using seismic petrophysics. By analyzing seismic data and well logs, researchers were able to better understand the pore geometry of the reservoir. This led to more accurate well-to-seismic ties and improved consistency between measured and modeled seismic logs. The new approach also helped replace poor data in problematic intervals, resulting in better wavelet estimation. Overall, the study successfully quantified pore geometries, which was confirmed by core images and formation micro-imager analysis.
