Soil erosion in India threatens crop yield and living standards.
The study aimed to estimate soil erosion in India using USLE, Arc GIS, and SWAT. By analyzing factors like rainfall, soil type, slope, and land management, researchers found that the average annual soil loss in the study area was around 70 tons per hectare. This erosion is causing a decrease in soil fertility and crop yield, impacting the livelihoods of people in the region. The results suggest that preventive measures are needed to address soil erosion and its negative effects on agriculture and society.
