Three-North Shelterbelt Program Successfully Restores Horqin Sandy Land Ecosystem
The researchers studied changes in land use in Horqin Sandy Land over 25 years using satellite images and a decision tree method. They found that cultivated and residential land increased, while forest land and desertification areas fluctuated. Grassland, woodland, and sandy land showed a negative correlation. Overall, the ecological environment in the area has improved since the implementation of the Three-North Shelterbelt Program, but continuous protection is needed.
