Three types of forage rape plants were tested to see how they affected the weight gain of lambs. The tall 'Greenland' plant produced more dry matter but led to slower lamb growth compared to the shorter 'Winfred' plant. Lambs that ate more leaves grew faster, showing that leaf quality is important for lamb growth. Farmers should consider more than just total yield when choosing forage rape plants for their livestock.
