Endangered Donkeys Saved by Pioneering Embryo Technologies
Donkey populations in Europe are at risk, so scientists are using embryo technologies to help save them. They have successfully transferred donkey embryos to other donkeys to create pregnancies, but this method is not widely used yet. Only a few foals have been born from frozen embryos, and in vitro fertilization has not resulted in pregnancies. By using embryo technologies, donkeys could be used for dairy production and to conserve endangered breeds. However, funding for this research is limited, especially in Europe.
