Affordable Fish Feed Made from Germinated Vetch Boosts Carp Growth
In this study, researchers wanted to see if feeding common carp fish diets containing germinated common vetch seeds could help the fish grow better. They tested different diets with varying amounts of vetch seeds that were germinated for 5, 7 days, and some with unprocessed vetch seeds. The fish that ate the diet with 45% germinated vetch seeds for 5 days grew the best, compared to fish on other diets. This means that using germinated common vetch seeds in common carp diets can make the fish grow well without any harm. The findings suggest that germinated vetch seeds can be a good and cheap source of plant protein for these fishes.
