Geographical range size not linked to plant abundance, challenging current predictions.
The study looked at how common plants are in different areas of Europe and how this relates to their size of habitat and climate preferences. They found that there is no clear link between how abundant a plant is locally and how big its habitat is or what climate it prefers. However, they did find that the location of a plant's habitat and how suitable the climate is there can affect how common the plant is in that area. This suggests that factors influencing a plant's abundance in one place may be different from what determines where the plant can live overall.
