New method predicts pile foundation stability under horizontal loads accurately.
The article presents a new method for studying how piles interact with soil under horizontal loads in urban infrastructure projects. By using Vesic expansion theory, the researchers developed a formula to calculate the soil resistance force on the pile side during horizontal displacement. They created a p-y curve model based on stress increment and verified its accuracy through examples. The results show that this method accurately predicts the behavior of soil around piles under horizontal loads, matching well with field data from model tests.
