Researchers conducted field experiments to determine the best combination of organic and inorganic fertilizers for growing maize and sesame together in Nigeria. They found that using a mix of tithonia compost and urea fertilizer led to higher yields for both crops compared to using either fertilizer alone. In one location, plots with specific fertilizer combinations produced significantly more sesame. Overall, using a combination of organic and inorganic fertilizers can help increase crop yields in maize-sesame intercropping systems.
