Bangladesh Municipal Waste Compost Safe for Fertilizing and Soil Amendment
The study assessed the quality of compost made from solid waste in a town in Bangladesh. They looked at physical, chemical, and biological properties of the compost. The results showed that the compost was mature and stable, with good pH and buffering capacity. However, it had low organic matter and C:N ratio. The compost had acceptable levels of N, P, K, S, soluble salts, and heavy metals. It also did not contain harmful bacteria. Overall, the compost was found to be suitable for use as fertilizer or soil amendment.
