Optimal missile fuze strategy maximizes damage efficiency against surface-to-air systems.
The goal of the study was to figure out how effective a certain missile is at damaging a surface-to-air missile system, and to find the best way to make the missile explode for maximum damage. The researchers created models to calculate how the missile and target would interact, and then used simulations to see how likely the missile was to cause damage. They found that if the missile's angle can't be determined, the best time to make it explode is after a delay of 13 milliseconds. This research method can help make missile systems more efficient at causing damage.
