Long-distance ski racers shift to slower technique due to fatigue.
The study looked at how long-distance ski races affect skiers' choice of skating techniques on uphill terrain. High-level male and female skiers were filmed during races, and it was found that faster skiers used different techniques than slower skiers. Over time, skiers tended to use a slower technique more often due to fatigue. Female skiers, in particular, should practice a faster technique early in their training sessions to improve their performance.
