Coastal erosion in Malaysia causing property destruction, urgent action needed!
Coastal erosion and accretion can change beach sediment over time, affecting shorelines and property. A study in Kuala Terengganu used satellite and UAV images to measure erosion and accretion rates at four coastal areas. The highest rate was 170.2942 m²/year in zone A, while the lowest was 57.5271 m²/year in zone D. Areas with high erosion had steeper beach profiles, with slopes of 11.004° compared to 7.652° in low erosion areas. Understanding these changes can help local authorities make better decisions for sustainable coastal management.
