Andean fish farms face eutrophic conditions, threatening aquatic ecosystems.
The study looked at the health of three lakes in Junín, Peru, used for fish farming. They measured nutrients like phosphorus and chlorophyll in the water during rainy and dry seasons. The lakes were mostly found to be in a moderate to high nutrient state, with two lakes being eutrophic (high nutrients) and one being mesotrophic (moderate nutrients). Overall, the lakes showed a mix of nutrient levels, which could affect the fish and other organisms living in the lakes.
