Urban agriculture transforms urban landscapes for sustainable future.
Urban agriculture is being considered in urban planning in developing countries like Madagascar and Senegal due to rapid urbanization. Two research studies were conducted to understand this activity and its role in urban landscapes. By surveying farmers and stakeholders, the researchers identified the functions of urban agriculture and its sustainability. They worked closely with urban planners and decision-makers to determine the types of production systems and areas where agriculture should be preserved to support sustainable urban landscapes.
