The study measured methane emissions from natural gas facilities in the US. They found that most facilities had low emissions, but a small number were responsible for the majority of emissions. Emissions were higher at facilities with venting from storage tanks. Emissions were also influenced by differences in pressure and equipment leaks. Overall, the study highlights the need to address emissions from a small number of high-emitting facilities to reduce methane pollution.
