Revolutionizing Crop Yield and Soil Health with Targeted Nutrient Management.
A study was conducted to see how different ways of managing nutrients affect the growth of maize, wheat, and chickpeas in a crop rotation system. They looked at how tilling the soil and adding mulch affected the plants and the soil. The results showed that zero tillage with mulch at 5 t/ha had the best outcomes, with higher yields and more nutrients in the soil. Using a target yield approach also led to better results, with a target yield of 10 t/ha giving the highest yields and nutrient uptake by the maize crop. Overall, zero tillage with mulch and nutrient management based on target yields can improve crop growth and soil health in maize-wheat/chickpea cropping systems.
