Sheep Grazing Outperforms Cattle Grazing, Boosting Pasture Production.
Cattle grazing and sheep grazing were compared in a study from 1972-76. The research found that pasture production is higher under sheep grazing than cattle grazing with similar management. Switching from sheep to cattle grazing can quickly decrease pasture production, while switching from cattle to sheep can slowly increase it. Cattle grazing limits the growth of ryegrass in pastures across different management systems.
