Shang dynasty descendants shape Yan State's power in Western Zhou Dynasty.
The Yan State in the early Western Zhou Dynasty was influenced by descendants of the Shang dynasty who moved there after the Shang dynasty's collapse. Bronze wares found in the Liulihe area provide insight into the feudal system of the Yan State. These bronzes reveal that the Shang descendants played a significant political role in Yan State and were subjects of the Yan ruler. Inscriptions on the bronze wares also help us understand the extent of Yan State's influence during that time.
