High flash-flood potential identified in small river basins across Romania.
Climate change has led to more frequent and intense flash-floods, which are highly destructive natural disasters worldwide. A study in Romania used GIS technology to identify areas with high flash-flood potential in small river basins. The analysis of 5 river basins showed that a significant portion of the river network has a high risk of flash-flooding. These findings can help in managing flash-flood risks and improving forecast and warning systems.
