Mass media in Nigeria compromised by government, hindering democracy.
Democracy in Nigeria relies on the mass media to keep the government accountable. However, the media is often influenced by money, politics, and ownership, which can hinder its effectiveness. The study used the agenda setting theory to analyze how well the media promotes democracy in Nigeria. It found that while the media has helped entrench democracy, it faces challenges like lack of independence and objectivity. To improve, the government should ensure press freedom, and the media should focus on investigative journalism.
