Hydropower and nuclear energy key to reducing emissions from fuel-cell vehicles.
The study looked at how much energy and greenhouse gases are used in making hydrogen for fuel-cell vehicles in China. They compared different ways of making hydrogen, like using hydropower or natural gas. The results showed that using hydropower or nuclear power to make hydrogen is the best for saving energy and reducing greenhouse gases. But making hydrogen from natural gas or coal is not as good. Fuel-cell vehicles using hydropower or nuclear power have the least greenhouse gas emissions, while those using natural gas are similar to regular cars. Buses using hydrogen don't save as much energy or reduce as many greenhouse gases compared to regular or electric buses.
