Urban greenery slashes city temperatures, easing heat discomfort for residents.
Cuiabá city has been getting hotter due to deforestation, creating heat islands. Planting more trees can help cool things down. Researchers studied how vegetated and non-vegetated areas in the city differ in temperature and humidity. They found that non-vegetated areas were about 10°C hotter than vegetated areas. While trees helped lower temperatures and increase humidity, they weren't enough to keep people comfortable all day long. So, planting more trees in cities can help make them cooler, but it might not solve all the heat problems.
