Poor water quality irrigation accelerates soil salinization, threatening olive plantations.
Soil salinization can harm crops due to poor irrigation water quality. A study in Israel's Beit She'an Valley looked at how using water with high salt levels affects olive trees. They used different methods like soil monitoring and modeling to see how salt builds up in the soil. The results showed that using salty water can make the soil too salty for plants to grow well. But using clean water for irrigation can help prevent this problem.
