Monopolies favor drastic innovations over competition, study finds.
The study shows that both competitive and monopoly companies have reasons to innovate to make more money. However, competitive firms are more likely to innovate because they can earn more profit from the same innovation compared to monopoly firms. Also, if a monopoly firm makes a big innovation, it can make more money and reduce the advantage of competitive firms. Monopoly firms are likely to focus on big innovations rather than small ones.
