Reclaimed water poses health risks for groundwater recharge, study finds.
Groundwater recharge with reclaimed wastewater faces technical and health challenges. Three organic compounds, N-nitrosodimethylamine, bisphenol A, and 17-α-ethynylestradiol, have been found in reclaimed water. These compounds pose health risks and limit the use of reclaimed water for domestic water supply. Future research should focus on establishing safe groundwater recharge practices.
