Groundwater quality is declining due to pollution from various sources, including urban stormwater infiltration systems. A study looked at how these systems affect groundwater contamination by pesticides and pharmaceuticals. They found that some pollutants increased in groundwater due to infiltration, while others decreased, possibly due to dilution. Passive samplers in groundwater wells helped detect low concentrations of emerging pollutants. This research provides new insights into the impact of urban stormwater on groundwater quality.
