Interstate streams in Susquehanna River Basin show concerning water quality.
Water quality in interstate streams in the Susquehanna River Basin was monitored in 1989. Samples were collected to check if water met quality standards and to see how human activities affected the streams. Scott Creek had poor water quality due to sewage discharge. Some other streams showed slight to moderate impacts on water quality and aquatic life from wastewater and chemical pollution. Most streams had good water quality, with only a few exceeding standards, mainly due to high aluminum levels. Overall, the study aimed to understand the health of these streams and identify areas needing improvement.
