The researchers developed a user-friendly software called SWMM-ING to help manage stormwater runoff and pollution using low impact development methods. The software optimizes the use of permeable pavement, bioretention cells, infiltration trenches, and green roofs to reduce stormwater runoff by 10%, suspended solids by 15%, and total phosphorus by 15%. SWMM-ING is easy to use and does not require specialized knowledge.
