Organic manures boost safflower growth, yield, and quality under rainfed conditions.
The study looked at how different organic manures and nutrient management practices affect the growth, yield, and quality of safflower plants grown without irrigation. They found that using farmyard manure at a rate of 5 tons per hectare resulted in the best plant growth, seed yield, and oil content. Additionally, applying a specific combination of fertilizers led to the highest overall plant growth, seed yield, and oil content compared to other nutrient management practices. Not using any manure or fertilizer resulted in the lowest plant growth, yield, and quality of safflower plants.
