Russian Policy Shifts Towards EU Driven by Domestic Factors.
The article explores how domestic factors like leadership, military, security, economics, and identity influence Russia's foreign policy towards the European Union after the Cold War. It uses three theories to analyze this impact: Foreign Policy Analysis, Neo-Classical Realism Theory, and Constructivism Theory. The findings show that a country's domestic environment shapes its foreign policy decisions, including public opinion, geographical location, political system, values, and national expertise. This means that economic capabilities, military power, identity, and leadership all play a role in determining a state's foreign policy.
