New soil conditioner technique reduces water waste and boosts crop yield.
The study aimed to improve drip irrigation efficiency by using soil conditioners with pulsed drip irrigation. They tested a mix of local clay and super absorption polymer on sandy soil. Results showed that using this mix with pulsed flow increased soil moisture distribution and reduced deep percolation. The wetting front advanced more horizontally than vertically, and the wetted radius under the dripper increased. This method can help reduce water wastage and improve water distribution in the soil.
