Groundwater modeling in Morocco successfully lowers water table, prevents waterlogging.
The goal of the study was to lower the groundwater levels in the Gareb-Bouareg coastal aquifer in Morocco using Visual MODFLOW techniques. By modeling different scenarios, the researchers found that pumping water from 10 wells at a specific rate could lower the water table by 5.42 meters over a 14 km2 area. This method could help prevent waterlogging issues in the region.
