Coastal rice fields in Karnataka hit hardest by false smut disease
A survey was conducted in different rice-growing areas of Karnataka to measure the severity of false smut disease in rice crops. The study found that the disease severity varied across ecosystems, with the highest levels in coastal areas and hilly uplands. Udupi taluk in the coastal ecosystem had the highest disease severity, while Siruguppa taluk in the Tungabhadra area had the lowest. This information can help in developing strategies to manage false smut disease in rice crops in different ecosystems.
