Balanced fertilizer use boosts cotton yields, improves soil health in India
Site-Specific Nutrient Management (SSNM) helps farmers apply the right amount of nutrients to crops based on soil's natural nutrient levels. A study on cotton fields showed that balanced application of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium led to significantly higher cotton yield compared to omitting any of these nutrients. The number of bolls and boll weight also increased with balanced nutrient application. After harvest, the soil had more available nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium with SSNM. In conclusion, using SSNM boosts cotton productivity and nutrient availability compared to omitting nutrients.
