Vermicomposting boosts micronutrients and humic fraction in organic waste transformation
The study looked at how earthworms can turn different types of organic waste, like vegetable scraps and cow dung, into nutrient-rich compost. They found that as the waste was processed by the worms over time, the levels of important nutrients increased. The best results were seen when vegetable waste was mixed with cow dung in a ratio of 8 parts waste to 6 parts dung. This mixture had the highest levels of nutrients and humic substances, which are beneficial for plants.
