New Cotton Crossbreeding Technique Boosts Yield and Quality Dramatically!
The researchers studied how combining different cotton plant varieties can lead to higher yields and better quality fibers. They used a specific design with 5 male and 5 female lines to make these crosses. Most of the crosses showed significant improvements in seed cotton yield per plant. Some combinations also resulted in better fiber staple length and boll weight compared to the original parent plants. Two specific crosses, PA 686 x AKA 9703 and PA 686 x JLA 794, stood out for their positive impact on seed cotton yield.
