Maize farmers boost yields and profits with integrated weed control
The study looked at different ways to control weeds in maize fields to improve crop yield. They tested twelve methods and found that using atrazine before weeds grew, along with hand weeding later on, led to the best results. This method increased the number of grains per cob, weight of grains, and overall yield of maize. It also helped the plants take up more nutrients from the soil. This approach was not only effective but also cost-efficient, giving higher profits compared to leaving the weeds unchecked.
