Intercropping boosts cotton yield and soil fertility in West Bengal.
A study was conducted in West Bengal to find the best way to grow cotton with other crops and manage nutrients for higher yields and soil health. The researchers found that growing cotton with blackgram beans gave the highest profit and nutrient uptake. Using 75% of recommended fertilizer and 25% from farmyard manure resulted in the best cotton yield and soil fertility. This method is recommended for farmers in the area to increase their cotton production and make more money.
