The researchers studied different mungbean plants to see which combinations produced the best results in terms of yield and other important characteristics. They crossed four female and five male plants to create 20 hybrid combinations. The best cross was BPMR 145 x SML 832, which showed high heterosis for number of pods per plant. Other crosses also showed useful heterosis in various traits, except for days to flowering and maturity. Overall, BPMR 145 x BWUC 10-1-1-2-1 was the best cross, with a 201% increase in yield compared to the standard check.
