New cotton hybrids show significant increase in seed cotton yield!
Researchers studied how different combinations of cotton plants can produce higher yields. They used a special breeding method with 10 lines and 5 testers to create 65 new genotypes. These genotypes were tested in different environments to see how well they performed. The results showed that some combinations had significantly better yields than others, with increases in seed cotton yield, plant height, number of bolls, and boll weight. Some combinations even showed improvements of up to 81.98% in seed cotton yield. This research highlights the potential for creating high-yielding cotton plants through strategic breeding combinations.
