The researchers studied different ways of planting rice to see how it affects weeds and crop yield. They found that transplanting rice conventionally or using a drum seeder resulted in fewer weeds compared to broadcasting dry or sprouted seeds. Conventional transplanting had the lowest weed amount and highest grain and straw yield. Drum seeding had the best cost-to-benefit ratio.
