Carbon Markets Fail to Address Fossil Fuel Addiction, Urgent Action Needed
Global Climate Change poses a big challenge as it impacts many parts of society and requires changes in behavior to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Carbon dioxide is a major contributor to global warming, causing long-term effects on the climate. Carbon markets do not solve the main issue: our heavy reliance on fossil fuels. Instead of focusing on offsets, it is crucial for companies to cut down on energy use and emissions. Only when necessary should companies use offsets for their remaining emissions. The study emphasizes the importance of reducing reliance on fossil fuels rather than relying on carbon credits or offsets.
